Kundrathur is a leading residential zone in south-western Chennai and in the Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu. It is famous for being the place where Sekkizhar, the iconic saint and poet, was born. The landmark here is the Kundrathur Murugan Temple and the locality housed approximately 23,808 people as of 2011. Another landmark here is the Thiruvooraga Perumal Temple while the area’s governing body is the Greater Chennai Corporation. The locality covers approximately 9 square kilometres in all while the languages spoken here include Tamil and English. The coordinates are the 12.9977° N, 80.0972° E.
